Steve Earle has started a tour through late spring and summer of 2009. The tour kicked off on May 28 in Portsmouth (NH) and hits 14 cities Eastern and Southern US including South Orange (NJ), Charlottesville (VA), Atlanta (GA) and Jacksonville (FL) before culminating at Westhampton (NY) on September 6. Steve Earle is promoting his most recent studio album "Townes," which released on May 12. The album is created as a tribute to Earle's late mentor and friend, songsmith Townes Van Zandt. In the album, Earle covers 15 original songs written by Zandt. The album also features guest appearance from Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Earle's wife, Allison Moorer. "This may be one of the best records I've ever made," Earle said in a press statement.
